Serious I just finished writing main characters and the setting of my story, only to realize it’s another cheap slice of life slop’s plot.

I just finished my first writing session after several hours of work. I was focused on describing the setting and characters of my fictional world. I’m still too nervous to share the details right now, but the main protagonist is a deeply frustrated incel living in a town where casual sex is extremely common.

However, when I reread what I wrote, the whole plot feels like a cheap porn game — kind of like a darker, edgier version of Summertime Saga. I’m a bit disappointed with how it turned out.

I’m starting to design and draft the characters’ appearances now. I’m currently learning to draw in a Western cartoon art style.

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas?

Make the "incel" character an HTN with depression and foids will love your story

He’s 5’6 and I don’t aim to target foids

Is it going to be a comic/manga or something like a light novel?

Don't worry about being original, because nothing is truly original anyways. Focus on making your story convey whatever message you have as well as possible, because the message/moral behind a story is the most important and interesting thing. If you can manage to also make it super entertaining that's of course even better, but only as long as it still conveys your message. As long as you feel that your message is worth telling creating your story will be worth your while.

TL;DR: Substance over spectacle.

focus on how normies projecting their distaste onto him feeds back into his nihilistic view of the world, maybe even make it so he doesnt want to be a nihilist, its just that he feels like its his only option when he's essentially a prisoner in his own body. you also dont have to do the world building all at once, you just have to show the audience how he perceives it

I got huge inspiration from Eurasian Tiger comics and Coastline Chronicles, the mix between the two is the result you can expect.

I expected you to have more of an anime/manga inspiration based on your profile picture but that's cool. Fingers crossed for you brocel.

Well this thread thing is BULLSHIT. I'm not specifically Responding to this Thread but this is the best way I found to post what I have to Say. I came on here thinking I would be able to Post Essay Style, as that's how my Writing style demands... And Now, I try to Paste the thread I already wrote and edited. And it won't Let me. It seems there's a Limit on Letters to be used in a single post. Lol. Can we Please Remove the Limit on "Letter Length" and Postability??? I mean the Limit and controls on the Must Read section I fully understand that - But how is a New Member like Me supposed to be able to Interact with the Community - If I cant even Post Anything???
