Thinking maybe this is yes uncommon but relatively normal for a 19 yo male and I lookup "exercises to work way up to a pushup" low and behold the results are all videos intended for foids.

Try to do knee/wall pushups first, or stretches.

Depends on what exactly is hard for you; is it a strength issue or ROM?

Work on triceps(and probably a bit of front shoulders) rather than going straight into pushups; while doing knee pushups on the side, try out dumbbell extensions whether lying down or overhead.

It’d be good to train the chest separately too but I assume you are doing home workouts?

So it’s better to focus on your weaknesses a bit first until you are able to perform better, pushups are a good compound anyways as long as you get good form.
