Even when I was a teen I never understood the appeal and didn’t enjoy any anime. It all seems like gay fag shit to me. I wouldn’t be able to take myself serious if I watched it especially because the fan base is mostly Weebs and other nerds.

It didn't interest me either until I saw Princess Mononoke when I was 11 or 12. The quality of the animation struck me at the time and the plot seemed mature and interesting.
This is also translates into hentai and tentacle porn type things that Jap shit is odd.
Watch good mature anime. You know if an anime is trash if it has the big eyed generic art style that many isekai have. Don't watch slice of life cause most are goody too shoo and boring. NO romance cause it is bluepilled. Only action pref senein and some shonene although shonene is for teens while seniein can be dark

Anime is all about happy stuff happening in fiction that would never happen irl, that's the appeal. You get so involved in the world of the characters you like and how things are so peaceful and happy and too good to be true and cute that you end up feeling happy yourself. Idk it brings some form of peace. At least with romcom
if i were you i would try watching naruto shippuden all the way through or death note but i guess its just because i grew up with anime and its one of my copes so idk

That I definitely don’t understand. I wouldn’t be able to enjoy something that is completely fake and has nothing to do with reality. It would be like waking up for a dream where everything was good and then you are jolted back to your current reality.
Anime, ecchi especially slice of life, is definely aimed towards depressed Japan shut-ins. You know it's not real from the get go, but you like how the characters are, their interactions with other characters you like, and you get addicted to them. Hard feeling to explain.
I grew up watching Dragon ball Z. Now when I say I grew up with Dragon ball Z, I really mean that. I have memories of watching the first series when I was in my last year of junior high, then watching the last series in my last year of high school. They (Cartoon network) really did spend that long uploading each series spaced out. One episode per week day when a series was running. (no weekends)

Shonen is cool af when you're a teen. But yeah, the rest of the media is riddled with trite bullshit. What I like about anime is how it isn't afraid to show dark mature themes and novel concepts in animation format that western animations don't.

Some are good, some are bad, some are amazing. Steins gate, Elfen Lied, Evangelion, and some more can easily beat any movie or tv shows. I stay away from isekai and harem, they tend to suck.
