Also Péter Magyar is not woke nor "pro-immigration". Yes, I voted for him. Fico in Slovakia is the only guy left who can stop the EU from going berserk. But, the EU has a weapon for the final blow.
Article 7.
If the EU finds a member state is undermining the bloc, and all other member states agree, that member (in this case Slovakia), can have its voice in Brussels silenced.
Or just bypass us completely and instead of seeking EU-wide consensus, just have every other member state "voluntarily" act in the exact same way. They already planned that for Orbán, since I can imagine that not every government would be OK with Article 7's activation, considering that anything that normalizes it would heighten the chances of it being used against other member states in the future.
Fico is good but unlike orban who directly fought and used vetos fico is much more obedient and unlikely to rebel. His election is in a year and he isnt polling great, so he will 100% try to stay on the eu's good side to avoid the Frozen buxx situation hungary was in. The black sheep role will remain empty for at least some time..
Fico also has barely any reason to rebel against the EU for anything. Apart from the Russian oil imports thing, which will now very likely be resolved even if he doesn't like it since we and Hungarians use the same pipelines with the same Hungarian-owned company owning all of it, it's hard to think of an issue where he's seriously at odds with the EU, apart from the typical right-wing (well, he's more a populist left-winger, but you get the point) stuff which is mainstream in European politics anyway.
If anything, he might be more thirdworldist, since he's now prostrating himself before CPV's cadres and talking about wanting to be the bridge between Vietnam and the EU
