He, along with 7 year old accomplice William Martin, killed Johnathan George Vincent, also 7 years old. As part of a Satanic ritual that Sandy saw in a movie. They were all set to send Sandy up the river for this. But the defense for Sandy argued that he was mentally incompetent. He knew not what he did. Not only did Sandy know not what he did, but he was manipulated! By 7 year old William Martin! HE is the actual evil genius, who groomed Sandy into a murderer for Satan. Johnathan was William's cousin, and William wanted Johnathan killed. Only William understood the grave reality of what was happening.

And you know what? This defense worked. Sandy was found not guilty by mental incapacity. So, does that make William guilty? At 7 he is too young to be found responsible for a crime. But at the same time the defense argued that he had to be at fault.

being so young doesn't mean they're dumb and incapable of persuasion or manipulation. Infancy usually is where fluid intelligence peaks, It's just that they lack introspection, and ToM.
