Isn't this a failure of capitalism? I was watching a video on the situation and I was like "Damn that's grim". I understand from libertarian philosophy that they're free transactions between two parties and that socialism is a shit idea all around, but isn't there, like, a middle ground?

China's GDP per capita in 1980 was $195, and today it is the second largest economy in the world, and this is in just 45 years, which is extremely small from the point of view of history.

Yes, capitalism is an imperfect system. But we are not experiencing pure capitalism so you should attribute most criticisms of yours to liberalism.

Anyhow yeah, globalism was never a good idea and everybody got fucked by it, everybody who wasn't very rich to begin with that is. Sure some countries have a competitive advantage regarding certain types of products and they can and should be making them. That being said national interests aught to come first which is why tariffs are a good idea.
I just hope that south america specifically will also get on this trend of reshoring. I plan to move to Peru some day and it would suck of it were to turn into a chink colony. I feel like South America and poor countries in general are the only ones which kept their pre liberal values and agroindustrial production lines.
