ephesus was a shitshow because Cyril literally bribed the government (letter 96 of Cyril). However, Chalcedon takes it to another level, it was so unclear that they had to roll back the status of Theodoret of Mopsuestia from good teacher(Ibas) to a heretic at Constantinople II chalcedon fucked up so badly that Constantinople II had to condemn a dead person which has never happend in church history

even for non-ecumenist, it's hard, Alexandria clearly won in Ephesus; there is no dispute about that however the Pentarchy never agreed on Christology. Rome had no uniform position. Augustine praises either Theodore or Diodore (don't quote me) and has a very Antiochian Christology,same with Constantinople, Jerusalem was pro Alexandrian
