I've just returned from a great family event. Seeing all of my cousins (and their respective girlfriends) was a bittersweet affair. When a relative asked me why I didnt' bring one I coped by saying "I don't commit to one, I don't need the expectations and obligations of a relationship" which of course is complete bullshit.
Multiple times thoughout the night my relatives asked my brother about his new girlfriend, he showed them photos of her and there was a riotous applause about how good looking she is, and every so often my mum would butt into conversations about how attractive he is.
There was one time my cousin brought a group of her friends to meet my brother and I, and my grandmother pointed at my brother and said "he's the good looking one".
This time of year is utterly excruciating.
