If you have setup VR or developed anything for it, you know how annoying/complicated/incompatible things are.
Setting it as a regular user (non developer) is hard enough. You bought some fancy 5090 GPUs just to play VR. So you settle down and set it up, do I need to plug it in to install or not? Airlink or regular link? Why is there a VR only setting UI?
Why are there TWO softwares to adjust VR settings? Why does users have to choose games on VR? Why can't it be like regular steam, that you put on the headset ONLY when you are playing a VR game?
Now, as a developer. In unreal or unity, select plugins only support a few devices. And usually fails to detect the HMD.
Once it detected the HMD, now onto trying to get it to detect the controllers....good luck.
There's also plugins that are not constantly updated, forcing you to downgrade the game engine. (Looking at you meta XR).
Moving? It's also much harder to get right with the point-to-move system. WASD/mouse look is way simpler.
There's also that you have to put on the HMD every time you test the game, and the HMD have to be charged very oftenly.
Oh and, if you keep it idle for too long it shut down, forcing you to restart it.
And that is, if Meta's stupid link app doesn't stop endlessly loading.
I've never seen a category of gadget so unfriendly to users and developers alike, and so buggy that it makes installing python scripts look easy.
