I've modified this cropping out the black borders (it's square footage not widescreen) and to emphasize focus on the 2nd encounter where he uses the pepper spray.

Johnny Young is not a paragon of virtue, clearly he speaks in vulgar terms to these sophisticated ladies about his "fatass cock" and insults the raven-haired lass as a "little bitch".
While he was right that his language did not warrant contacting the police, he was wrong to speak rudely to her in the first place, as well as in response to her abuse of police services.
None of Mr. Young's rudeness however justifies how the brown-haired girl in the orange dress kicked him in the balls though.
She should be charged with assault of Mr. Young's person for that (she sexually assaulted him) as well as the follow-up attack she made assaulting him in the face with a deadly weapon.
It's clear he was not an aggressor in this situation, in terms of the application of physical force. Only in terms of "feels". Insulting feels w/ words does not justify violence. He was making no threats of force towards any of these women, only explaining that his penis might possibly become erect in their presence, something he has no control over.

After being kicked, he is consistently backing away while the woman who just kicked him stands up, stoops to icks up a deadly weapon (a stilletto heeled shoe) and brandishes it at him even though he is not presenting a danger to him. She chases him.
He rounds a corner and it's clear that the woman in the orange dress is acting unreasonably violent -you can see even her friends realize this: the other slimmer girl in the black dress is trying to grab her arm and hold her back.
It is clear she plans to throw the weapon at him and injure him with the weapon. She lifts it overhead with her right hand, and winds up like she's doing a fastball pitch.
Mr. Young warns orange-dress heel-wielder "throw that at me you're gonna... " and is interrupted by her completion of the throw.
Mr. Young had adopted a defensive posture, raising the open palm of his left hand in the predicted path of the thrown show to try and defend his eyes so that getting hit in his eyes would not blind him.
Attacking someone's eyes is threatening their life - those attacks can penetrate the eye socket and damage the brain. Even if that doesn't happen, if you are blinded then it is easy to knock you to the ground and murder you.

You can see as she throws the shoe he veers to the right, in addition to trying to parry/catch the shoe with his left hand he is also trying to dodge his head out of the path of the shoe so that he is not hit in the eye socket.
Mr. Young had a reasonable fear of his life in this situation, after she threw the shoe. Having averted his gaze he did not have eyes on her - was she readying another projectile to throw at his face, causing him deadly harm?
For this reason he was right to use his right hand to discharge his defensive pepper spray.
This non-lethal deterrant (unlike a stiletto heel to the eye socket) would not cause her permanent harm, but would temporarily incapacitate her from throwing things accurately at his skull.
This allowed him to safely do a 180 degree turn and sprint away from the danger ASAP which is what he did.

He had a reason to fear for his life because he was outnumbered and nobody was stepping in to help him. He had reason to assume the entire crowd would side with her and murder him.
You can see this because as he flees a woman in a neon-yellow dress tried to tackle him even though he was clearly the victim and not the aggressor in this violent encounter.
