The hedonic treadmill theory suggests that our happiness has a set point and that positive and negative events will eventually even out and we will return to our baseline happiness. This means things like getting a girlfriend won’t mean increased happiness forever. Considering this, getting a romantic relationship will definitely increase happiness and it’s definitely possible for to stretch our baseline happiness.
The question is, do you believe this theory to be somewhat true?
