Ive never owned a diary or even knew anyone who coped with one.
But I've noticed that in lots of stories and media, characters own diaries to jot their thoughts and feelings down.

I'm pretty sure owning diaries in the past was more common, because social media wasn't invented yet.
But rn, social media has become something of an online diary for most people.
Even some of my threads here are pretty diaryish tbh

Diary is pointless for the most part when you don't have much happening in your life. Diary would be cool if it is locally stored and encrypted, and you been keeping a diary since early age, so later you will know how each day went and what happened with high accuracy.

I used to have one of those "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Do-it-Yourself" journals from my 6th grade book fair if that counts.

I tried it when I was redpilled, on PC. I thought, at first, that I could use a diary to "better direct" my thoughts and make better choices, as I daydream all day and my thoughts are all over the place. I kept doing it for a year, overthinking about my life and everything, until I realized that writing was exactly the same as thinking normally. So I gave up and started a part 2 of the diary, titled "My Twisted World" in imitation of Elliot, where I wrote down my most hateful thoughts and incel theories just to vent, until I stopped because I got bored.
One day my laptop broke, I disassembled it and bought a new one, but my dad spied on my old hard disk in secret and so he found out about both the diary and my search history, so about my usage of this site too.

I do use .is as a diary, though I've had diaries before. I had 1 recently just to write down thoughts for future generations to read. If I never betabux (and thus don't have kids) I will hide my diary in some random hard to reach spot, and maybe 300 years later somebody can read it.

I have crazy trust issues because my mom used to violate my privacy as a kid, and my diary is one of the ways she did it. She bought me a diary for my 9th birthday, I wrote in it daily, and she had been reading it in secret and using the information against me when lecturing me. She would also listen in on my phone calls, mock me over searching up my crush on her pc when I was 10, use my facebook instead of her own and make posts from my fb profile.

Because of her, I hate phonecalls, I can't keep one going longer than 1 minute, I continuously try to shut down any conversation over a phone, I also can't express myself, I've never told anyone anything "deep", especially not my mom, she pretty much doesn't know the first bit about me or my worldview, she only gets it in small pieces whenever she ragebaits me with some dumbass take and I just have to correct her.

When i was a kid it was a common thing for teen girls and even early 20s to keep diaries. Now social media serves the purpose. Boys almost no one did. I tried once but gave up after a day.
