Yeah, this is part of the reason why I don't do deadlifts lol.

JFL doing deadlifts with a mixed grip (over- and under- hand) at the gym. Just use straps.

Ya I didn't realize how dangerous that was until I watched the video and saw the weight going on the bicep tendons. I had to use straps on deadlift anyway because my hands can't hold that much.

Yeah, not easy if you have small hands. There's also using the hook-grip, but usually you need longer fingers for that.
 
A lot of them violently try to move the weights of course that would be bad for the bicep tendon. Should always be done controlled, e.g. curls, deadlifts, …, etc.
