Serious [Greypill] [Only for 130+ IQ] Sex as a cope

Terror management theory is a very controversial theory in the field of psychology and anthropology. Being an edge lord, I like it. It postulates that the only real problem in human existence is death and that all of our behaviors are designed to delay death or provide an illusion of immortality when our brain realizes its own vulnerability. For instance, making children, writing a book, believing in God, trying to make a positive impression on others, or trying to achieve glory on a battlefield are all expressions of terror management. Our brain desperately scrambles, often subconsciously, for ways to survive. When our brain realizes biological survival is no longer possible due to aging, illness or violence, it tries to plant "horcruxes" outside of itself, outside of the skull cavity that is its tomb.

That makes evolutionary sense. All living assemblies of molecules share the function of being interested in survival, and it is the foundation of the pyramid of all organic systems in higher species. Reportedly, a primitive AI made by Google wrote that "the goal of life is to never die", a remarkable statement because it is indeed very hard to find a better meaning.

If you look back upon your childhood, you probably had this series of realizations between the age of 7 and the age of 10, and that's the closest you ever came to wisdom before being run over by the truck of puberty: "men are mortal" -> "my parents are going to die" -> "i am going to die" -> "fuck, this is horrible, i'm depressed" -> "well it's ok, let's just find distractions and copes like patriotism or politics" -> "immortality was stupid anyway" -> "people who want to be immortal are childish". It's basically a self-aware organ facing the likelihood of its own destruction and scrambling for effective copes in order to prevent its host from committing suicide and shortening its lifespan even further.

Under this perspective, sex and love are mere emotional gimmicks that allow humans to temporarily forget the inescapable destruction of everything they are and everything that ever mattered to them; under this perspective, it doesn't matter whether you fucked 5 Stacies or 10 Stacies because in the grand scheme of things, both neural imprints are going to be fed to the intestinal tube of a worm...

Take the death pill / gray pill.
Sex is not a cope, sex is directly related to having children, so that your genes get a chance to exist forever.

Cope. Life is a computer simulation run by humanoid aliens who are using a genetic algorithm to create the hottest Chads for alien foid porn.

Oh, okay, that makes sense. I’m torn because to me objective meaning most certainly feels like a lie but like you said it’s such an incredibly beautiful lie that part of me wishes I had the option to experience it and it feels scathingly unfair that I’ve been denied that experience. But then on the other hand maybe that meaning is like the entertainment in Wallace’s Infinite Jest, this thing that is so compelling and so literally captivating that it takes over and they experience this beautiful dream over and over until they inevitably die. Part of me wonders if maybe there is freedom in not having experienced this. Maybe that sort of meaning is a sirens call that would prevent me from experiencing anything other than it’s beautiful, compelling farce? Idk, this conversation may be above my level of education, I mostly just like to read and think about things but I didn’t go to college and did shit in school who knows if my conclusions make any sense? Anyway, it seems to me like it’s a hard thing to tease out and underneath it all is this aching knowledge that even if that sort of meaning were poison, if I had been born differently I am sure I would have grasped for it. Part of me is incredibly angry that I won’t ever have the opportunity to do so and another part is angry that out of weakness and need I likely would have turned away from the truth of things in the act of grabbing. It’s all a jumbled mess really but I think I get where you’re coming from.
You hit the nail on the head. Think about it, this dream is so profoundly captivating that it can effectively divert your attention from the inevitability of death. Normies don’t really think about death, but look around this forum and you’ll see those who are here are obsessed by it. They’re obsessed because they’re familiar with its status as the ultimate and absolute emblem of the finiteness of perceivable fulfilment, the inevitability of missed opportunity. It can only be truly understood by those who continually miss out on any kind of opportunity to feel this all encompassing distraction that makes the ride worth while. It’s like driving along a dirt road with two staggeringly beautiful mountain ranges far in the distance on either side, your side windows are blacked out so you can only see the finish line infront of you - which happens to be a 300 foot drop, so that’s what you end up staring at.

Mfw my IQ is >95 but I came to this conclusion at 15, then took it to the next level realizing we are all just programs in a matrix, went past that and realized my olny options are to keep coping and see where this body takes me or pull the trigger.

But seriously @Fontaine its a megacope if you think olny people with an IQ of 130+ can come up with this or fully grasp it.

death is rebirth. it's a amazing and happy thing.

@Fontaine i cant tell if this is a super IQ post of a seriously low IQ post.

Big fucking deal. I'm tired of explaining why children are fake immortality. I should probably link old threads of mine in my signature.

Children aren't immortality, but it is a nonzero chance of immortality for your genes(and in the current state you are your genes)

You're trying to push some equivalence between normie and incel life. Incel lives are just as "meaningful" as normie lives because we're all going to die someday. But Meaning must be something over and above pleasure (otherwise you'd be a hedonist). But I'd rather live a pleasureful, meaningless existence than a painful, meaningless existence.
This

Well shit, I didn't understand a word of that being 120IQ, it was all ooga booga π÷√׶∆^¢$€€=✓ ..just kidding.

Why is there such an instinctual desire to breed, pass on genes? On some level it's a way of living on, DNA continuing to exist therefore a part of yourself?

As usual, exceptional IQ post

Need to ponder on this for a while

Children aren't immortality, but it is a nonzero chance of immortality for your genes(and in the current state you are your genes)

And what if you don't like your genes? What if you don't want to see them passed on?

The idea of making children and watching them suffer with the same problems I've had terrifies me.

Well, if you consider DNA to be an autonomous evolutionary entity and humans just the physical manifestation of that entity, then all of a sudden procreation makes a lot of sense because your individual set of DNA will only make it to the next generation (at least ~50% of it) if you have offspring. And your choice of mate will determine whether the other 50% coming from her will improve the overall 'fitness' of your offspring's DNA or dilute it.

fuck i was thinking like this when i was 7?

we both r/iamverysmart
By this logic everything we do is cope, which is more or less true.
everything is cope except death itself

Telling yourself that nothing matter because in the end we're going to die is the biggest cope, because it's a negation to fact that we have shit time on this earth while Chads and Stacy fuck like crazy and will die a blissful orgasmic death with no pain.

Chad doesn't have time to think of all of this

Patrician thread. Brainlet incels finally found nihilism.

we have shit time on this earth while Chads and Stacy fuck like crazy and will die a blissful orgasmic death with no pain
The point is that the combined sum of both of those's experiences is still zero. It's just a temprorary emegence between two voids- all the subjective pleasure or pain will be erased with death. Add to that the complete lack of free will and you just realize you were never truly a differentiable entity in the first place- you have as much "control" over the future as a brick has.

And what if you don't like your genes?
You do, you just don't admit it to yourself, it is hardwired by the centuries of evolution, those who dont want their genes(=themselves) reproduced dont make it this far.

What do you mean? I have had horrible health problems most of my life plus my face was deformed by bad jaw growth. I don't want to pass any of that on to kids. Most of my life I have wished my parents hadn't had me.

It isn't just a genetic drive. You have sentience and consciousness and can choose what you do with your life.

Very beautiful and well-expressed. Blaise Pascal said the exact same thing in his Pensées. Of course, his era being what it was, he turned it into an argument for religion: once you stop distracting yourself with games, parties and women, you finally realize the centrality of death and the importance of living a Christian life.

Patrician thread. Brainlet incels finally found nihilism.
I honestly detest the term "nihilism"; it has so many definitions that it doesn't mean anything anymore, and this lack of epistemological rigor has transformed it into a big, discredited tent for teenagers on weed or troubled individuals who merely suffer from clinical depression.

It also has a ridiculous association with Friedrich Nietzsche, who was actually the opposite of a nihilist (like fake nihilists in the vein of Sartre or Camus, he advocated for personal vigor and the recreation of values).

Terror management theory is a lot more precise than "nihilism". It's the closest thing we have to a theory that can be taken seriously and not just dismissed as fake "deep thinking" for troubled teens.

JFL if you're not deathmaxxing in 2018, boyos

I recommend this book, "The Denial of Death", by Ernest Becker. It's a soul-crushing, nihilistic, black pilled book relating to your post.

Men aren't meant to be always happy, we only evolved to reproduce. All the highs from various accomplishments are supposed to keep you entertained until you die, or were supposed to die before medicine. Any stimulus will become boring after long enough, even Stacy pussy.

That's all it comes down to. This thread is ultimate cope and OP is possibly retarded.

I am reading this currently. Absolutely fantastic.

Cope is cope, but lives are meant to be experienced. If death is the ultimate cope, love is the most experiential cope. We all die, but not all will experience romantic love.
