In days past it was more about survival and maintaining a modicum of comfort, looking at old photographs I see incels types that still has life in their eyes. Just having decent work or skill was enough for a man to feel validated and important, even women could appreciate (or at least pretend to) men that through their labor contributed to the group as a whole. The hardship of previous eras contributed to a balance of societal roles. Looking at older buildings, art, clothes and so on one can see that prestige could be obtain via mere diligence. Now in the dreadful modernistic era it's more about survival of the image, thanks to commercialized chadism a significant portion of men find themselves disqualified from obtaining realization and recognition in the world. This is problematic because as men we're wired to prove ourself worthy to avoid shame. As such I will wager that feelings of indignity is the most disturbing part of being incel.

Sex outside of marriage is considered fornication anyway.
People were once more aware of this, and it was generally more respected.
Then they (the usual suspects) increasingly sexualized Western societies. They brought us pornography, the so called "sexual liberation," and revealing fashion.

They elevated sex to a modern idol, told children at school that premarital sex was desirable, and the modern (pop) culture they created declared every man who was still a virgin in his 20s to be a loser.
Yes, they even brought us feminism, which convinced the foids that a high bodycount was a positive thing and that men who warned them about this (emotional) ruin/destruction were merely supporters of the "women-oppressing patriarchy."

Good points, it would seem our once beloved societies got bastardized itself.
