Sometimes watch these Russian-Ukrainian war update videos like these:
View: https://youtu.be/bNMEKLG-h0A?
View: https://youtu.be/We2TVx4rbBk?
and I genuinely don’t know how people have the energy to track every hedgerow, treeline, and field Russia captures every day.
Nothing wrong with people who do, but it’s all over the place. One video shows Russia taking 200 meters of forest belt near a village you've never heard of. The next day, a talk show is confidently predicting a Russian breakthrough to the Dnipro River and the total collapse of Ukraine, doomer talk, act as if Russia will take the entirety of Eastern Ukraine.
There's a weird split I've noticed and these are the reasons I don't bother keeping up with the war updates anymore:
-Map updates = painfully slow grind. Russia advanced 300m near XYZ settlement.
-Podcasts & talk shows = dramatic forecasts, total Ukrainian defeat, massive offensives incoming, 'one last hammer blow' narrative Col. McGregor often talks about.
It’s hard to square those two realities. Either Russia’s inching forward tree by tree, or it’s about to blitz halfway across the country. And both sides are saying it with a straight face.
I don't know what narrative to believe anymore, truth is the first casualty in war they say..
