This forum would be 10x worse than it is now if it weren't for the gatekeeping. The most normie users tend to either get banned or get scared off due to not being liked by the community before the make it out of greyceldom. And as much as I think it's a complete waste of time when users make threads just for the sake of baiting IT, I think those kinds of threads also help scare away more normie users from joining the forum. The more normie users that become active on the forum the more that the community culture slowly changes. Without gatekeeping this forum could eventually become unrecognizable.

Gatekeeping is an essential part of growing a strong community, You cannot let bad actors ruin your community. For example a lot of trannies where allowed to fester in gaming communities and eventually got a strong enough voice to change the rules and kick out a lot of the original members of those communities effectively corrupting those communities and turning them into tranny communities.
