Gaming is one of the cheapest hobbies you can have

Definitely agreed with this. People talk about how expensive games are, and it's literally just because they spend the disposable income they have on drugs (this includes alcohol), going out to bars and restaurants, or tickets to see degenerate rappers and sportsball games, and look at game prices at face value instead of waiting for heavily discounted weekly bundles (on third party sites like Fanatical and Humble Bundle) and big Steam sales. I work a retail wagie job and have thousands upon thousands of games on Steam, and I spend around $100-$150/month on games tops -- unless there's a Summer or Winter Steam sale, then that number doubles. Probably not even 5% of it was supplied by my parents.

True, I only paid one time for a good desk top pc and all games (and software) are freely available:

My current installed games in the screenshot + have about 2.5 TB of iso's and GOG installers on a secondary harddrive

Gaming only becomes expensive when people are obsessed with ultra-high graphics, ray tracing, 4K resolution and 120+ refresh rates. This is just a trick from tech giants and gaming studios to push you buy more. In reality you can play all video games with a decent low tier gpu and still enjoy the experience.

I bought my PC for 750€. It has an RTX 4060 and it runs super smoothly in 1440p@75fps with ray tracing and high graphics. Honestly you don't need more. When my PC gets older, I'll just upgrade to a new graphics card and still be able to enjoy video games.

Steam and CDkeys have fairly low prices especially as games get older. You do not need to play the latest releases, just wait a little bit.

I seriously don't understand why there are so many users here lamenting that gaming is becoming more expensive. Gaming nowadays is actually super cheap. All you need is a mid range (or even low range) laptop and a controller (optional) and you can play thousands upon thousands of games for free. All you need to do is avoid modern slop.
All they have to do is have self control and don't let fomo get to them and enjoy what you have

He's right, gpu corpo jewery has gone so far that newest generation budget cards are low tier.
Cause nivdia CEO knows people lack self control why give more then 8gb on a entry level GPU when it still gets the job

True, in a couple of years from now i would probably be able to play all my PC games in a fucking phone so i won't have to worry about electricity either.
