The Gen 2 Pokèmon games are disliked by younger gaymers apparently since they're not streamer friendly and supposedly have a "bad level curve". Personally i think they're the best games in the series. They're just not meant to be completed in one sitting.

The exploration is good enough to excuse the dumbed down RPG mechanics and mediocre combat. Fuark I wish I could play it for the first time again. I got a similar feeling when I started Morrowind but that magic was nowhere to be found in Oblivion. There was some novelty in the beginning but unlike the other two games there wasn't the same incentive to explore, despite being the largest out of them

I would also say that the PS1 version of FFVI gets alot of shit due to the loading times in battles. It's because the game is on CD. On the original SNES version there's obviously no loading times since it's on a cartridge.
