Maybe the movie isn’t the most accurate representation of a mentally challenged man. But one of the most neutral depictions of American life and culture between years 1940-1990. Believe there was some artistic choices made in the movie to make certain points about the culture that unfolded. And it was pretty honest besides the depiction of gump based on info we have no of actually mentally challenged folks
