For some reason it just clicked with me that all problems come from the lack of meaning in the modern world

Nothing we do really matters. Not that it ever really did, but in the past people felt like it mattered. At least subjectively there was meaning.

Nowadays there's nothing to live for. We spend more than 8 hours a day working jobs we hate and there's no reward except the paltry sum that covers the bills.

People in the past were even poorer, had less comforts, but they felt like they had meaning. Their work felt like it had an impact, they were part of a community, there were struggles but even those struggles gave meaning to life.

Nowadays it's all just pointless.

Hit the nail on the head. Today's society is totally nihilistic and has no values.

Don't give me more suicidefuel bro. I already have enough.

Technology was made to make humans lives easier but has it really gotten easier? As hunters and gathers they spend 8-12 hours in the beautiful nature to get food now we spend the same time but instead of being sorrounded by a lush green therapeutic paradise and the thrill of "how I caught something in my trap", "see how many berries, fruits, nuts i have found" or "i hope i catch this animal so we can eat" we are now sorrounded by concrete buildings, roads, factories; people are working inside these depressing buildings slaving their lives away 8-12 hours a day.

It's impossible to feel your work has meaning, when you know your workplace can fire you, and replace you within 24 hours.

It's equally impossible to feel your efforts in human relations has any meaning ... when stacy has 8,642 followers on instagram licking her boots and donating money to her for existing.

We're living in a socially desolate society.

Excellent elaboration.

yes, the modern world is nothing but hedonism, there is nothing higher.
