It's self-hatred. I believe it is first cultivated within family dynamics (father says son is not masculine enough, mom says son is not obedient enough), then HEAVILY reinforced during school and college, because girls are portrayed as better than boys. Then when these boys grow up and reach the job market, they're faced with terrible salaries and raises, little to no career progression, disrespect, awful working conditions depending on the industry.
Society has no interest in fixing this self-hatred, because it's profitable. They'll just tell men to go to therapy (spend money), donate to perceived less advantaged social groups (spend money), take a normalized hobby such as playing paddle (spend money), get better clothes to feel better about themselves (spend money), go to the gym (spend money), and so on. Now, some of these activities are actually not completely devoid of value, in my case I go to the gym and I do see some benefits from it (although I'm mounting a home gym as we speak). But what matters here the most is intent, and unfortunately society is slimy like that.
Since girls and women are also more valued, men giving them money for no reason is not seen as a bad thing, in fact it is seen as "reparation" for the perceived injustices that women faced (lol)
