Favourite consoles?

I like the Mega drive and super Nintendo, even though I never owned either of them, I've played their games on emulators and compilations.

Ive owned a PS2 on the past, and have a gamecube rn, and I like them both.

I had an Xbox 360 when I was a teenager and am pretty nostalgic for it, but I wish I had a PS3 because that console actually had exclusives.

PS1, PS2 and Xbox 360. My most positive memories are of these consoles, where I played Tekken 2 and 3 with my siblings.

PS2 and PS3 were when video games were the ultimate cope for me. I could have a shit day at school or whatever, but knowing those consoles were waiting for me made me not care about anything else.

Then 10 years ago when I built my first gaming PC the gaming spark was lit up for me again, though that lasted maybe 3-5 years.

1. Dreamcast - Sentimental as its the first console I bought with my money. Objectively it really lacked in library, but it contains 3 of my very favorite games in Skies of Arcadia, Grandia 2 (better than the broken PS2 version) and Tennis 2K2. The online aspect was new and exciting then, also before greedy DLC shit became the norm. Also, you could just burn discs and play games lol.

2. XBox - Solely because of its modding capabilities. The library obviously sucked compared to PS2. The joy was in turning your XBox into a media server, emulation machine, modding games (which Microsoft even somewhat allowed back then with music and such) and easily installing whatever you wanted on it which was amazing in the 2000s. PS2 was capable of much of this also, but it wasn't nearly as polished and took many more steps.

3. PS3 - 7th gen is when gaming reached its pinnacle, imo. Graphics reached the point where they were good enough, and that still applies today. 360 was a technical disaster (I repaired so many of those), and Wii is in its own category with how unique it was, so PS3 wins by default.

It's hard for me to rate older consoles as I grew up white trash and played sparse games in shit quality on Genesis, Master System, Atari, NES, N64... and anything 8th gen and newer is beaten by PC.

My favorite console design of all time though is probably the GameCube surprisingly enough.

Yes I know purple kiddie lunch pale and such etc but still if one can get passed the desire for mockery it’s portable nature was great for taking it around and playing it on other TV’s and if you got the black version like I did that makes it a little less faggy.

If Nintendo had pulled their head out of their asses, fired Aonuma, made Spaceworld 2000 Zelda a reality, finally made a real 2D sequel to Mario brothers 3 and kept Rare and reorganized them with A list developers to release a proper Perfect Dark Sequel and some new 2.5 D Donkey Kong Country games instead of the (mostly) lackluster and boring bullshit that they did end up releasing for it they would have rocketed to Heaven in sales past or on the level with PS2.

A true 2D Mario sequel to Mario 3 by their A list developers and not some halfassed new super Mario brothers game by their B team devs would have carried the console to dominance at or surpassing PS2 sales practically all by itself as people LOVE 2D Mario when Nintendo doesn’t just phone it in.

No one really gives a shit about 3D Mario even though the Wii galaxy games were good.

I had a PS3 and a Wii as a kid so I have a lot of good memories with them. I also used to play a lot on the NES whenever I went to my grandpas house so I like it as well.

GameCube feels like the last time nintendo had fun with their consoles, the rest are fine, there's just something special about the gamecube. PS2 would be my second choice but it's mostly nostalgia. Least favorite is switch because it's lame and overpriced.

Sega megadrive 32x because I got to play Doom for the first time. I still remember the first time I played it. I actually discovered an easter egg or a bug which gave me god mode and all the weapons in the second level. I still think about it sometimes and when i mention it no one believes me, or they simply don't care. lol. I joke around to myself by saying I'm like Neo from the Matrix.

I usually say my favourite consoles are:

1) Dreamcast
2) Atari 2600
3) Xbox 360

But there are lots of good ones! In terms of appearance I'd go with GameCube.
