I feel like there aren't enough interesting points of conversation to warrant routinely interacting with someone. Discussion runs dry quick, especially if you are talking to someone you need to filter yourself around.

It's no different a skill than writing an essay is, where you need to possess the ability to hyper-inflate random points and topics far beyond what they would realistically need to be communicated. The entire point of that is to do in hopes that other person chips in and latches onto a topic or idea from the things you've said and then you continuously do that back and forth until your conversation ends. That is literally the foundation for almost all conversation and stuff like humor is just flair that you add along the way.

In that regard, it's a tiring thing.
