True Independence is being able to survive without the assistance of other human beings if you can survive in the forest by hunting and killing animals then that’s self sufficiency wageslaving to pay another person for a place to live so you don’t freeze to death or die of a heatstroke is not Independence because if they decide to evict you then you’re doomed buying food from a store is not Independence because if you can’t afford the food then you don’t get to eat until you can obtain your own food and water as well as build your own shelter without paying somebody to live there you’re not Independent

As others have said, everything is inherently dependent on everything else, you cant really be independent in an absolute sense. Youre always relying on other people, especially in tbe globalized world of modernity. Even if you hermitmaxx youre dependent on the ecological environment you extract resources from, as well as hoping other people dont come along the compete with you for those resources.

But the talking point i see a lot is how it's somehow better to be "independent" in the sense of working your own job instead of relying on your parents, which is pretty stupid. I dont see how it's any more glorified to go from being dependent on parents to being dependent on a boss, which is really just a shittier and more power-tripping parent. After age 18 either can kick you to the curb at will, so youre in as equal a precarious state either way.
