TL; DR:
The EU Commission is using a misleading survey in its scare-tactic advertising campaign to target EU citizens. The targeting is based on religious beliefs, political beliefs, and interests, and limited to people in countries whose legislators rejected the Chat Control or CSA Regulation (CSAR) draft proposal. This is being done in an apparent bid, by the EU Commission, to sway political opinion and create pressure for on those lawmakers in order to coerce them to support the legislative proposal which aims to scan Any and All messages, including those sent through the usage of encrypted chat tools. Their plan is described as "a proposal that in essence amounts to distributed spyware on everyone’s devices."
