• Tourist Laura Plummer was jailed in Egypt for three years in December 2017
• The 34-year-old Briton was found carrying 290 Tramadol tablets in her suitcase
• But she has now been pardoned and freed after 14 months of her sentence
• She is being kept at a police station in Cairo ahead of a flight home later today

That was actually in the cards as it's in Egypt's laws. She received a fair punishment as she was in jail (not prison) with very poor conditions. Also the only motivation to bring the pills was for her husband or something, as they would have had a lower resell price anyway.
