Cats easily for me, they are far less aggressive, smarter, more hygienic, have more emotional control & respect your boundaries & personal space. While dogs are the exact opposite.

I've had both but if I had to choose again in the future, then cats. They're much more chill and suit my personality better.
I like both but im more accustomed to dogs and i like their loyalty.
I only hate cats because of one reason. They kill birds. I'm also severely allergic to them.

Ain't no way cats are smart. They don't give a shit then climb something so they could break everything. I just prefer a silly fish or some bird. Dogs are great guardians while cats are just lazy fucks.
