Due to bad parenting I was morbidly obese since about 11 years old. I was about 260 LB at 13/14 and 330 LB at 16/17

My mom is about 5ft6 and my dad 5ft11

I'm 5ft10

Wondering if my weight had any impact on my height

Factors I quickly gathered from looking online:

Obese children hit their puberty sooner, but it also ends sooner

Obesity does interfere with estrogen/testosterone

Obesity may impact HGH production

Regardless of HGH levels, you are genetically capped at a certain height

Probably because it puts so much stress on your spine, compressing your discs

Incorrect as pretty much all growth occurs during sleep which happens laying down and therefore weight pressure doesn't matter.

It at very least matters during the day because everyone naturally shrinks a little after standing all day. If you are heavier, there is no way you aren't compressed more while standing.

I'm doubting this as a factor but if you can provide a source I would be interested to factor it in to the downfall of my life

Losing weight might allow you to stand closer to your true height, I'm not fully sure if obesity permanently shortens you though.

i wouldn’t say so, you’re about as tall as your parents, right in the middle.

are any of your relatives obese though? a lot of your metabolism comes down to genetics

not really, i don’t think it would effect anything more than an inch. i think it could be correlation with high estrogen that’s related to fat. high estrogen can cause height differences in development

My dad told me he was obese as a kid, a lot of my mom's family is overweight. I am predisposed to be overweight and my dads shit parenting didn't help.

It fucks everything up

Yes

Only super severe obesity tho

I think its opposite, my cousins 10yo obese son is 5'4, while my nephew is head shorter.

I don’t think it has any signifying corrolation

I'm thinking then weight doesn't really matter and it's primarily genetics

Opposite unfortunately

obesity hit me from the age of 15 because my parents forbade me from going to the gym, even my doctor dad did not . and forced me to eat oily as fuck fatty curries daily.

i lost a fuck ton of weight and became lanky at the age of 19 by starving myself the moment i moved out for uni. but now because of all that i am cursed with a skinny fat build

given your parents' heights, I would say you're pretty fortunate you didn't grow up to be any shorter.
and I doubt it's only your height dooming you.

I think you are right. I may be coping about me being shorter than I should be. I also inherited a lot of my looks from my mom. Hairline. skin color, hair color, facial features. Me getting her height genes doesn't surprise me.

Oh, it isn't.

Did you really get her height genes, considering you're closer to your father's height? I think looking at male family members on your mother's side would probably yield more information. I suppose it's the trend to be taller than your father nowadays as younger generations are generally more well-fed, but height is generally decided up to 80% by a multitude of genes. if your father has 4/6 tall alleles and your mother 2/6 and they are mutually exclusive (assuming they're binary on/off), you could theoretically get 0/6 or 6/6 height genes. of course, this is a massive oversimplification and 6 is an arbitrary number, and these alleles interact with each other in odd ways with some being dominant and others having averaged results.

I mean, genetics have so many factors it's hard to say if I only got her height genes. Like you said it seems I got the average height genes. Not an outlier of overly short or tall. It suck's, but it's average.

Honestly my dads side of the family is non-existent and so is my moms, so I can't really compare to anyone.

rip, brutal familypill.
my mom was basically a party girl whore and her entire family was trashy so no surprise.

my dad is a huge narcissistic boomer who siphons any money he can get his hands on to gamble then turn around and virtue signal about him being financially responsible and a hard worker. so yeah. his family cutting him off doesn't surprise me either.

I have a friend who is 6'4, 350 lbs. Been overweight his whole life. He kept gaining weight, but also kept getting taller. Has a wife, too.

Yes it can because fat cels contain a lot of estrogen which closes growth plates. The same reason why excessively high testosterone leads to an earlier closure of growth plates - it starts converting to estrogen in massive amounts due to the aromatase enzyme. Obese for prolonged period of time (4-5+ years) = shorter than could be. Very high T during puberty = shorter than could be.

fat binds to adipose tissue but you would have to be above a certain extreme threshold of fat to really stunt your growth, if anything i dont see how you cant hit ur rdas when ur a fat fuck lol so its moreso of a pro if u dont give a shit about being a ball of lard

Being thin means having a diet high in proteins or vegetables.
Being fat means having a diet high in carbohydrates and fats.

The reason why men who are fat when young seem to be shorter is that they don’t get enough protein to benefit from the high growth hormone peaks during adolescence, and they also have constant insulin levels in their bloodstream, which can lead to cellular shutdown due to rapid drops in blood glucose which results in it stopping growing again.

ive been obese since i was 9 (with the exception of my shitty little redpill phase where i was a gymrotter)

i was around 5’1 at 13. by the time i was 14 i hit 5’10. ever since then i havent changed physically whatsoever. my height and voice has remained the same since then.

also id like to add i think being obese for half of my life led to other physical problems we well. i am 18 and i already suffer from chronic back pain and i think the cause is sucking in my stomach constantly due to insecurity my whole life which fucked up my lower back and pelvic area, hence my anterior pelvic tilt (which can very well affect height) and the pain that comes with it (i have done exercises to try and correct it for a while now but to no avail, im starting to think that it is permanent). just a theory though, im not an expert with these things.

I don t think so, there are obese guys that grew tall and even if it would make a difference, is too small to say that ur short because u were obese, not because of ur genes
Also how many of us grew obese?
I don t think that many grew obese
