I have a Jackson guitar but my amp kinda sucks.

I use to play drums back in middleschool

sort of. I produce electronic music so I can make music and play enough keyboard to get by

I played guitar all throughout elementary school and a couple years in high school.
While I adore music, I guess I don't have the conviction to continue practicing, unfortunately.
There's a lot of shit that I'd like to do that I don't have the conviction to actually execute lmao

Nah but I can sing kinda well

I've been playing guitar again. It's been an off and on thing for about 10 years. I've been terrible at figuring out how to actually improve at it for a long time, but some recent breakthru's have made me believe I still can improve to the level I want. I just need to quit being lazy about ear training.

Same here. I'm going to keep my best pal interested, just in case he one day decides to buy pro gear and get really good. He doesn't want to start a band so I don't push him, but if he gets pro gear and starts to take an interest in practice then maybe the chance of having a band will increase. He's just busy that's all.

yeah i can play guitar, half ass sing, use fl studio etc etc but Im too much of a low iq uncreative brainlet to do anything

learned keyboard a little, want to learn it again to play touhou music

The big thing for me is learning techniques. I can roll my 3rd finger really well now and I also roll my 2nd a little. I also note that if you play past the 12th fret you don't need that stupid convention of 1st finger fret #1, 2nd on 2nd, and so on. You can use your 2nd finger to reach 2-3 frets down, depending on where you are. Slides are awesome. I need to play fast patterns though, else I'll suck at blues and metal.

About my gear and how I use it. My amp sucks at distortion so I should play more using the neck pick-up. No point in trying to "drive" the amp with a gritty bridge pick-up because it just sounds like someone taking a dump :c

Violin, guitar and piano

Violin, guitar and piano
Violin seems so cool, but it doesn't appeal to me socially. The people who play violin are normal and peaceful. Still, it's a cool instrument. I held a violin a few years ago at an expo of sorts. Violin sure has a unique sound. Piano would be nice but I never tried it. I'd be interested in songs with cool timing or good drama. Maybe the Duke Nukem theme would be fun to play. Ha! Anyway who's got a house that's big enough for a piano, these days :c

My ex step brother played brass and also piano, but he never got good at piano, despite his great musical talent. He showed me the piano version of Pirates Of The Carribean on Youtube. There's another song for violin he he he!

To be honest I am not a fan of the really calm songs, I prefer classical music with a lot of energy and really fast compositions. The song of Pirates of the Caribbean is pretty cool, it sounds good in a lot of instruments as well. I want to learn cello and bass but I have to focus on uni at the moment

Cool. If I could give just one piece of advice it would be to start ear training asap. I don't think any single skill will take your further in music or with your instrument than the ability to identify what others are playing with your ear. Not only is it useful for learning music, but your ability to play with others will improve 10 fold.

learn the major scale and everything else comes naturally

Even if you don't know how to play piano, just experiment with the black keys and you'd be unknowingly be composing in a pentatonic scale. It also sounds so wonderfully Oriental.

The best advice is the simple advice. I've been sick the past 4-5 days with a really bad cold virus but when the week begins I'll have no excuse not to practice. Major scale is indeed the place to start. I have a mate who's a builder and he's the guy who got me hooked on Metal Gear Solid 3, so I text him and say "boss, you haven't played guitar with the boys for 9 years.......... pick up your guitar and see if you can play the major scale" LOL

I actually need a guide on how to play the major scale at certain frets, I mean, I can find it anywhere but sometimes the scale charts from the net find the notes on different frets. For example, I'll play "a major" starting on fret 5 of the big E string, and I find all the notes in order, but the chart that I printed from the net will actually suggest notes that are on 3rd or 4th. If I recall. I use the charts to be sure :)

I bought a guitar many years ago but didn't put in the time to really learn how to play.

Podo

the notes are all the same, whether you're starting from and open string all the way up to the highest fret or you're switching strings going vertically across the fretboard

every note shown is like a white key on a piano, and on a piano the white keys are in c major so if you play a song in c major you never have to touch a black key

its different for guitar because on a guitar the pattern is always the same (pic related) and if you wanna change you keys you just shit the whole pattern up or down some frets for a different key

Electric p bass mockup but it sounds good.

BDSM, cheers m8.

I guess my ears will tell me if I'm right or wrong.

I'll muck around with this stuff over the next few days. I've gotta get that major scale right, and I must play it without even thinking that I'm playing it. When I'm motivated and when I get my buddy to play again, then I wanna play fast patterns and do crazy shit with the trem bar, like Glen Tipton in Judas Priest.

I played the violin from 4-11. Hated it the entire time until my mother let me quit.
