I think adults are more hard-wired to be distant and cold, to be honest.

I reckon the reason is... basically adults tend to delay gratification more. They wait until they're around the friends they already have before they socialise.

Younger people have a higher time preference and so are more likely to engage with the people immediately around them.

It's just how the brain naturally changes with age, in most people.

Anywho, I just wondered if you guys have noticed this difference too and what you think about it.

tHEY ARE BOTH BRUTAL IN THEIR OWN WAYS!!!

Very true. It might be a little bit easier when younger. Older people usually already have their groups established, have kids, career etc. So they don't really want to meet new people or have time too. Anyhow a lot of it has to do with if you're good looking, wealth, social status. Stuff that most of us are severely lacking in so we're fucked

What I found is the teenage world peoples social status is in flux. Like that kid who grows 10 inches and gets broad shoulders in one year. And people don't yet know how the career world will work out for them. In the high school teens people also hadn't married or had children yet (or relegated to permanent singles).

After high school people find their place in the social order. And they get these giant egos and their main emotion is feeling superiority over those below them in the social order. They want to be dominant over those they view as below them in the social order, at all time. So even if you have a good idea, people who are above you in the social order will shit on it to show their dominance.

As young teenagers sort of everyone is a betamale on a similar level. The students are powerless at the school and have to do what their parents say.

Its like how boomers dedicate their life to getting promotions and taking more debt to get a bigger house than people in their family, friends, work colleagues and so forth.

Depends if you're the type of person who peaked in High School. If you've always been a loser, things dont change drastically when you reach adulthood.

Honestly i can't really tell. Both highschool and adult world are brutal. Adult life is one giant highschool with different cliques but with a MUCH larger area. But in higschool you still have time to break into certain cliques and if you don't well you might just end up on this forum.

I was a teenager from 2013 up to 2019. I think my teenage years were very mixed. Obviously i had the incel lifestyle and treatment even back then, but it's a lot stranger now as an adult. Call it nostalgia or rose tinted glasses, but i genuinely think it was better to be a teen or adult back during those years than it is in the 2020s

Yeah it's strange isn't it how some people peak when younger and some when older.

A youtuber I watch sometimes said he didn't do well at school particularly but now as an adult is doing well.

Me on the other hand... I'm fairly lost as an adult and always missing my teenage years, so even though I'm not doing really bad as an adult, it definitely feels like my absolute best days are long behind me.

They're all the same. Even my teens were as cold as ice

The second you lose your potential in life the shift is instantly more cold
