Discussion Do you ever get mistaken for a foreigner in your own country?

I have a distinct phenotype, I am Turkish but I don't really look Turkish. I'd say I have more of an Iranid phenotype, but I wouldn't pass as a native in iran either. A Portuguese guy once thought I was Portuguese, I think that was just because of my darker complexion. I doubt I would pass as a native in Portugal.

I guess it comes with being a subhuman.

Yes but Turkey does have some unique phenotypes. The turkic genetic admixture results in a phenotype that is slightly different, even if a person is 80% greek for example. I can easily recognize other turks, regardless of whether they have a european or middle eastern phenotype. The same can't be said for others recognizing me
