I watch romantic comedies all the time... I find myself enjoying the majority of the movie but then I also laugh and think "that will never be me" at certain parts.

I read and watch a lot of romance mangas/anime. The thought doesn’t occur to me I normally self-insert.

But it's not real. It's science fiction. It's crap mostly written by women and is as realistic as most porn scenarios are. Nothing to get sick about. If anything it is proof of the puerile taste and limited intelligence of the mostly female audience.
