Different kinds of depth in video games

Not every type involves leveling up, lol

And not every type is deathly serious.

Half-Life - or a personal favourite of mine FEAR 2 - have depth and are fun but involve zero levelling or long cutscenes.

That's definitely a very good kind of gaming, at least for me!

I like complex games as long as they can deliver quick dopamine too

Story is important.

Gameplay can be similar for the most part. So IMO story can be the separating factor here.
