Mine were. I remember i went out to the street a bit more late than others. My mother also used to call me more than my "friends".
Same as some other anecdotes, which involves absence of privacy, and worrying to much. And other things with my brothers too.

However, though i had helicopter parents i dont consider my case extreme. I remember a guy who at 15 had a parent control on his hbo or nexflix account

I am curious to know if someone here has some anecdotes or something to tell

Yes and I'm just now learning to do stuff on my own. I literally had to watch youtube videos on how to drive a car and buy gas cause my mom thinks I can't do anything by myself. I'm starting to hate her.

More or less. They controlled everything I did and could do in relation to the world and society, and then in adulthood they expect me to learn to live on my own. I always had low self-esteem because I could never act or dress the way I wanted, and when I tried, they made fun of me, and all that was left was obedience. But they at least let me play any video game or watch any movie.

I’m surprised a black mother would be like that. Usually mothers like yours are jewish women which is why so many mass shooters are Jewish boys and “autism specialist schools” are filled with boys called Jonathan, Ethan, David and Jacob.

Yes, and on top of that I was always treated as a retard, so in addition to limiting my opportunity and freedom they also used to force me to "learn" how to do the most basic of shit even if it's something I've done plenty of times before and they would force me to do it on their schedule as they demand. Not hungry? Too bad, time for time to learn how to fry an egg for the 8th time. In the middle of a game? Too bad, we noticed you don't like arbitrarily being forced to go outside and we see that as a mental disorder so we're going to keep forcing you to waste your time following us around in stores shopping for things that do not concern you.

Even now in my late 20s I've never had any of the "normal" experiences people associate with growing up such as just hanging out with friends of my own rather than going out with my parents and my dad still doesn't allow me to drink at home because he views me as a friendless loser who would probably become an alcoholic.

I don't care anymore my parents did their best they had a hard life too and they worked hard in life to get to where we are today even though we have problems we have a family and my mum and dad did their job they could have done drugs and been deadbeat retards but they tried and they were religious which in this world is the best kind of person tbh. I had the opposite up until I was about 14. I was largely neglected and had no parental guidance. The parent I lived with from 14 onward wasn’t really that interested in my life, either. Like, nobody cared about the grades I got in high school. I never went out so they didn’t need to enforce control, either.

My parents were helicopter parents sometimes but not to an extreme degree. It sucked being controlled by them sometimes but most of the time I never did anything to warrant their control so a lot of it was more of an unspoken rule rather than an immediate strict enforcement.

There were other times years ago when I was able to push back however and that was nice. I remember they wanted to put the tracking app Life360 on my phone to track where I went but I have some resistance and they gave up on trying it.
