Playing this right now and I'm not sure if I like it.
I had high hopes for this game ever since I first heard of it.
I picked it up because I love sci-fi horror. I imagined it would be like Doom 3 (one of my all time favorites) but in 3rd person view. But I was disappointed a bit.
It has some positives like story, atmosphere, voice acting, UI design etc. I also like that it's inspired by the movie "Event Horizon".
However, IMO the gameplay is disappointing.
I don't know if it's an issue with my system, but the controls feel sluggish and non-responsive.
I know there's a well known mouse lag issue which can be fixed by turning off V-sync. It works but it slows down the camera movement significantly. Maybe I need to increase my system's mouse sensitivity? I'll give that a try later.
But the basic controls like moving around and turning do feel sluggish.
In fact, everything just feels slow. There's a noticeable delay when you open the inventory screen, unlock a door, bring up the shop menu, perform a melee attack etc.
Combat doesn't feel satisfying at all. You need to right click to aim your gun and even then moving your aim around feels clunky.
The weapons are cool but the ammo is rather scarce. So missing a shot (because of the aiming issues) costs you dearly.
Shooting a monster in the head won't kill it instantly. You need to shoot off their limbs to kill it. WTF? Dumb idea.
The outdoor space sections are annoying as hell because you're constantly running out of oxygen and the movement is sluggish.
I'm currently in chapter 5 and I'll play this game for another few days. I'm just looking at it like an interactive movie in that I want to see where the story goes. But if it gets crazy difficult I might stop playing.
