When people say "just be confident", what they really should say is "just have sex".

When you try to be confident, you are only pretending. People can see through fakery easily. Only way to be confident is to be confident naturally.

Confidence comes from past successful experience. For example, you wouldn't be confident in singing to a crowd of 200 people on a stage if you never sang before and succeeded.

If you never went you are already hesitant. But if you do get on the stage and they all go "BOOO!!! THIS GUY SUCKS!!", then you most likely will not do that again.

For some it's impossible to even get past the initial fear, for others, they just aren't good singers at all. For Chad however, people started applauding even before he sang the first note.

If you were to emulate Chad's "confident" behaviour precisely, they still wouldn't acknowledge that. Even if you were so delusional that you genuinely believe in yourself and there's no possible way to detect fakery in your flawless performance, you're not Chad, so you'll be deemed desperate rather than confident.
