Nazi Germany: It started a war because the planned economy, price controls, and class collaboration did not work
From 1933 onward, the economy was based on a future war as a means of economic recovery
This was stated by Hitler himself in a speech on August 22, 1939
"It is easy for us to make decisions. We have nothing to lose; we have everything to gain. Because of our restrictions [Einschränkungen], our economic situation is such that we can only hold out for a few more years. Göring can confirm this. We have no other choice; we must act. Our opponents will be risking a great deal and can gain only a little. Britain’s stake in a war is inconceivably great. Our enemies have leaders who are below average. They lack exceptional individuals, masters, men of action."
Italy: The Italian economy never stood out and never experienced economic growth that could be considered good.
Autarky and price controls created a severe food shortage;
by 1930 the economy was stagnant, and by 1945 Mussolini was dead at the hands of his own people.
Spain: The first phase of Franquism was marked by strong bureaucratic fascism, autarky, price controls, and protectionism:
It didn’t work; Franco liberalized the economy for the second phase (the economic miracle), eliminating bureaucracy, protectionism, price controls, and state control
