Chess, or the game that became chess, was invented in curryland around 500 AD. The game was originally called Chatarunga. It was played on an 8x8 board, and the pieces gradually evolved into the pieces in modern-day chess. For example, the knight in modern-day chess was originally the elephant in Chatarunga.

Also, the queen was originally called the general in Chatarunga. By the time chess got to Europe, the general became the queen and was also the most powerful piece on the board.

What queen is out in the battlefield risking her life and destroying the enemy? In reality the queen back at her palace with her 100 Chad suitors while the king and the rest of his army are dying to protect her.

Liberal feminist bullshit all the way back in 15th century Europe.

insightful post

Checkers is the better game. All men are created equal. Any man can become King. And a bitch isn't the strongest piece.

It's a game, calm down now

YES! I did this history dive and realized that western Europeans have been simping for centuries. This is why they deserve the destruction they've brought upon themselves.

It was brought to the Europeans by the Islamic empire, which adapted the game a bit to suit its culture. The general was made into the wazir, the (prime) minister. The logic is that the prime minister does the actual work of running the kingdom. So it was the Europeans who went full simp and rebranded this piece as the queen.

Playing cards have a similar history. The trajectory is similar: they originated in India or China or something, the Islamic empire picked them up, the Spanish got hold of them from there, and the French got them from the Spanish. Guess when the queen card debuted? When the French got them. In fact, Spanish cards to this day do not have a queen card, they have a knight card.
