No, it's logic actually. The > isn't "greater than" in the traditional (math) sense the way it's used in parlance. The thing that is greater than supersedes the thing that is less than, which implies exclusion of the thing that's less than.
If face>height, it implies that height is actually irrelevant and not a factor, and thus "face is everything," hence they're equivalent.
I think only you use arrows that way.

Bruh, I just said it's not math. Saying x>y in this context is saying "x is more important than y," not, "x has a higher value than y." It's just typed shorthand. If it is the case that the height requirement is not met, then the value of face is nullified.
If height and face are variables, then if height is less than the threshold (foid dependent, but still converges to some narrow parameter centered around 6', possibly less), the value of face is set to zero, as evidenced by the OP.
Write it out as pseudocode or rough proof work, if it helps you see it better.
