Assemblyman shitskin Zohran Mamdani was holding onto a lead in the Democratic primary for mayor of New York City after early votes were counted. But hundreds of thousands of votes cast on Election Day had yet to be tallied and could be more favorable to former Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo.

Mr. shitskin Mamdani, an upstart assemblyman and democratic socialist, had fought fiercely for months with Mr. Cuomo, the state’s scandal-plagued former governor. By later tonight, voters are certain to know which candidate is in the lead, but under the city’s ranked-choice voting system, a winner may not be clear until next week.
