I just saw the new Halloween movie. One scene involves the main teenage girl breaking up with her boyfriend, then her orbiter starts complimenting her incessantly. As you may guess the orbiter is not too attractive: he's fat and short. Clueless as he is, the orbiter tries to kiss his teenage crush. She yells at him, "I don't want you!" Then she throws him to the ground, calls him pathetic, and flips him off as she walks away.

But you know who she doesn't call pathetic? Michael Myers. When she sees him, she reacts hysterically and runs screaming. That feeling of superiority she just had is completely gone.

I'd rather be Michael Myers than the orbiter.

This is why Halloween movies are great. The whores get what they deserve.

Honestly this movie ends in a very "Womyn Power" type of way. Actually, a lot of slasher movies have the girl win at the end.

I always felt that horror movies having happy endings is cheating. Horror movies spend their whole run time terrorizing us with brutality, but then ends with a tidy resolution? It seems counter to what we paid to see.

Some of the newer horror movies are having evil triumph (Hereditary and The Witch come to mind) and that's a huge improvement. The way a movie ends solidifies its world view.

It ends with a women power type narrative? Elab.

Of course you would, he's 6'8.

Grandma, daughter, and grand-daughter set a trap for Michael that he falls for hook line and stinker. Then they all stand together in one shot, looking down at him burning alive in the basement. It's subtle, but it pissed me off anyway.

Yeah! I'm a foot shorter, so I'll never be as intimidating as someone that tall would be. But I sure would like to look dangerous, so people wouldn't fuck with me.
