Sick of coping by taking the train nowhere and smoking cigs by myself and having people see how fucking ugly I am, and standing around at the 99cent pizza place by my job completely by myself

Everything fun here thats like the rest of the US needs you to PAY and only really enjoyable in a GROUP of friends. It sucks

No come to tx ok we’ll have incelcon

Go on a date with ur gf

Yeah I don't have much to do around here either. I really need more ways to meet people. The only good way I can think of is working in a big workplace but right now with all the corona stuff that's not really possible.

So... hm. I have a plan to make money, but that isn't very sociable either o.O

This applies to activities in all cities. Nothing is fun alone. Gaming might be the exception but its still better with friends.
I've heard charging a J/O crystal is more fun with friends.

Where are you in the city and how is getting around post 'rona? Considering returning and rotting in a studio.

I feel you, bro. I just want to get the fuck out of this stinkin' place...

Don't come over here. Not worth it, and unless you don't mind living in ethnic ghettos, cost of living here is pretty high. Even in ghetto areas, you start seeing gentrification taking place.

Best to live off-grid or somewhere rural. Or somewhere that's NOT New York...

Yeah cities are strange in this way. I'm an extrovert and I feel very drawn to the number of people in a city, the energy and excitement. I get a bit of "Fear Of Missing Out" if I'm too far away.

But then... somehow they can still be very lonely places if you're alone, probably more so than villages and the country. It's strange really.

However... I do think there is some advantage to the choice a city provides. The more options you have for where to go, the higher the chance there'll be somewhere where you can meet people.

I kind of like blackjack and I can imagine meeting some people around that table :)

(it's not that I especially like gambling - I just like the game and I like the ambience of a casino)

Idk when cities got so bad but probably when all the surveillance cameras and sousveillance/voyeur culture got big and the bar for looks and status and exclusivity of social outings got raised after the Great Recession.

If you look at architectural trends like New Urbanism that were popularized in the 1990s and 2000s in response to the blandness and consumerist culture of suburban sprawl you see it wasn't always this way :feelsrope:

Basically during the 2010s after smart phones became more prominent. Even places like iceland also got impacted because tourists came in large numbers after they saw the pictures from fb/twitter.

Ye the anonymity and being lost in the crowd of the town square turned into a candid camera type debacle. Also blasting music and loud abrupt noises emanating from smartphones became way more common. The same smartphones that as you recall are ready to record an embarrassing moment at any notice.

I'd probably do some urban exploration type shit if I was alone in NYC. Or grab some kind of camera walk around at night, and take pics. IDK man maybe do a Meetup.com and find a group you like or something.
