Anyone scared to rewatch old favorites in case they turn out to be shit

There were several anime I watched in my early teens that were deeply emotionally impactful. Part of me really wants to rewatch them for nostalgia but part of me is scared the things that spoke to my 13yo self would seem dumb or cliche now

Thats because these shows were aimed at a younger audiences, its only natural to find them shit when you get older

I rewatched the first season of the Beyblade anime a while back and it was considerably shittier than i remembered

When I first got into anime there was this show I watched called Future Diary. That show was soooo good to me at the time. I think its ending made me cry. Its been 10 years since then and I’ve changed so much, my mentality, my tastes. I don’t know if I would be able to enjoy a show like that now.

I would much rather keep my memory of the show how I remember it. Keep my memory of how it made me feel at the time.

You are right it's probably better to keep the memory as is, but I also don't want to call myself a fan of some slop show. I'll rewatch everything eventually
