You see the act of asking (unless you're more or less guaranteed to get it) as a form of humiliation ritual since you're at the mercy of someone elses permission..

You dont complain either for the same reason. Letting someone know what bothers you grants them leverage.

As a result you suffer more than you have to.

Obviously this doesn't apply to people you're close to.
