Any tips for song producing?

I'm planning on producing a song that's about all the shit I put up with in life and how my state of mind has been altered through shitty experiences. Any tips you guys can give me? I mainly need tips on how to compose good instrumental background. Like sometimes I would sound out good instrumental music but is there any way to actually transfer that into an actual song?

Honestly I have no idea. All I do for my stuff is vocals and guitar, so it's not really a full band sort of thing.

Although youtube has a ton of guides, and I'm sure you can find a lot of stuff on there.

For recording guitars I just use Reaper with a virtual cab and amps.

Make sure to pan guitars to opposite sides as well because it will make the sound bigger.
