I've liked a deck from Yugioh GX since I was a kid (Cyberdark). They're ugly and creepy but I love their arts and organic machine looks. Sadly when Konami printed some more cards to help them out (in 2017 and 2021) they didn't care about making them good and gave us lots of useless garbage cards. Waifu decks and tranny Yubel get a completely different treatment.
I also liked other decks, like Felgrand, Red-Eyes, Malefic and Gravekeepers. Anime-wise I've only watched DM and GX, I remember 5Ds impressing me but then I just stopped caring.

Nah gx was so much more interesting in my opinion, I really loved Hell Kaiser; the scene where he summons Chimeratech with powerbond but proceeds to essentially kill him self due to the nature of the duel was such a devastating but memorable scene. Shame the writers brought him back in the penultimate season it would've made the scene even more depressing.
Yeah the waifu decks make it very difficult to take the game seriously, i remember watching some pro-league match on turn 2 they got to chain-link 9 on the second fucking turn of the game.... The game is absolute garbage powercrept to oblivion. The game is a coin toss whoever goes first basically wins cause they can just set up a board of negates to lock the opponent out of the game. Hand-traps sort of mitigate it but the online game is just not fun. I really love the card game though, I got an offline version of master-duel with all the cards to mess around with any deck i want. Some of the older formats like Goats and Edison do look like there are still others who agree that the modern game is completely fucked.
My favourite archetype rn is Sacred Beasts, i love the support they gave the field spell and continous trap make them incredibly menacing if you know how to set them up.

been playing since gx, quit recently. Locals fucked the yugioh tards over hard, only yugioh game nights twice a month. the other one is just shit, the play area is terrible, dreadful and in the worst crackhead area, fuck that. the power creep is actually ridiculous now. The prices is dumb aswell, several 100$ playsets.

Don’t play with randoms I’ve heard some bad stories from a former friend at locals, he said once the other person was so unforgiving they wouldn’t let him reverse a mistake he didn’t intend.
my locals was good, until the changes and some new blood joining, shitty fags net-decking with max rarity decks. And im aware about how bad some locals gets, especially in America it seems. anyhow i dont go anymore anyway, been priced out because of the net-deckers
The decks you run how competitive are they against meta?
when i played last time 2020 or something, i was fairly competitive with various rogue decks and invoked especially, worked well for my local meta.
Invoked very based, I tried this sacred beast rogue deck i think it can hold off against some decks but you need a really good opening turn.
It has a lot of search power with some of the continuous spells and the field spell lets you draw 2 just for having a sacred beast on the field.

I've tried, the whole meta hivemind ruins the best part about the game which is deck building. You could go onto dueling book and people just playing with for no prize will still fucking all play the same 3 meta decks. It always reminds me of that one scene in the original show where Pegasus lets a child take over and he wins.
I know this is brutal but the really only fun way to enjoy yugioh is with friends other than that randoms are just going to be a bunch of toxic faggots.
agree this is what made me quit, my local was full off deck-builders making weird decks and interesting takes on meta, then the new fags joined, meta decking max rarity all that shit. started a arms race that made the good guys leave.

I still remember my friend building a vjam deck it was so wacky but cool to see. So funny how those meta decks the cards are worth a fortune but when the ban list hits they're worthless it's just so goofy to me why people even bother with that shit.

True everything seems to be too powerful now there's no build up you can literally do everything in your first turn.
the main issue is the overabundance of omni negates and the limp wristed use of the banlist. look back at tengu plant format, many elements of modern yugioh but not cranked too 11
I miss proper speed dueling during the synchro era duel links used to be so much fun but they kept adding so much stupid shit. Some people didn't even want the future yugioh series into it.
