Everyone says Death Note is a good starting anime. It's okay, apart from S2 which I felt was ass.

To be honest i want something that sticks with you after you finish it i really like deep story in series that i watch

Tokyo Ghoul
Berserk(After you watched atleast 10 anime and it has to be the 1997 version)
Promised Neverland(just has a bad season s1 is peak tho)
Monster(Really slow burn but it'll stick with you for sure)

Tokyo Ghoul made me heavily immersed into anime. It's not the best adaptation (manga is infinitely better) but there are some elements which still made it enjoyable. The fights, characters and animation are all an A from me.

Oresuki
The pet girl of sakuroso
Kagaya Sama love is war(probably the definition of romcom)
Oregairu
Hyouka (isnt really but a nice slow burn)
Golden time
Kokoro connect

Prison school
Konosuba
I don't really know a lot more and these two kind of need Otaku humor to enjoy

Fantasy is most of the anime I already recommended you before their quality pieces if media i hope you enjoy them.

Yh from late s2 but its still pretty engaging he can always start reading the Manga when the adaptation gets bad
