Foids are more attracted to partners who can defend them and their offspring. That is unfortunately (or fortunately) a completely natural basic instinct, which they will always follow, even if they say otherwise.
You can see a great example above. At the bottom, a simple adder with rounded head and small teeth. It can't really defend itself properly except for a mostly harmless bite.
Above it, a viper, well-defined skull structure, aggressive look, hunter eyes, gigantic teeth. Ready to defend itself with nasty venom.
Very easy to see similarities with humans.
