My cousin was in a fraternity. They had an alumni event where the old boomers would come down and talk with the younger guys.

Apparently one boomer who's the rich finance guy openly said to two guys: "Now I'm going to offer the job to your friend here, and this is a learning experience. I'm giving him the job because I like him, and he's better looking. You clearly work much harder than him and know more, it's very obvious... but he's good looking and I like talking to him. This is learning experiene to show you life isn't always fair and even though this guy worked half as hard as you and probably spent his college getting girls more than studying, he still is getting the job that you desperately want, and he doesn't even want it that bad, this is a learning experience"

I'm paraphrasing but the boomer only thought he was being some honoest philosopher who was cool for not sugarcoating his words, when in reality he was being a giant dickhead.

Just your typical lookist normie. This is the kind of stuff that makes me laugh whenever teenagers in incel spaces think that you can "just moneymaxx" and that a high income and professional success is something that's simply inevitable if you just want it and try, when lookism is as common in the professional sphere as in other parts of life, if not even more. Ugly guys are routinely excluded from relatively-egalitarian friend groups IRL, what the hell makes someone think that anyone would want to put ugly guys above them in company hierarchy where you have real inequality and power differences.

An honest normie

just pull yourself up from the bootstraps theory

make "burning alive" a learning experience for him.
